Community Involvement

A major component of supporting our rural community is advancing young, beginning and small farmers and ensuring that there are opportunities for young people to get involved in agriculture early in life. One goal of our Association is to help the youth of our community achieve success in their agricultural endeavors. We achieve this by staying involved in our local communities through donations and participation.

Our Current Involvement

  • Colusa-Glenn Farm Credit is a major sponsor of our local fairs and youth. We make donations to the Colusa County Fair and Glenn County Fair to support the fairgrounds and the youth livestock showmen.
  • We also support various agriculture education programs for our local youths, namely Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H. FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. Similar to FFA, 4-H is the nation’s largest positive youth development and youth mentoring organization, empowering six million young people throughout the U.S. 4-H provides life changing programs that are research-backed and available through 4-H clubs, camps and afterschool & school enrichment programs. Our close contact with agricultural departments at local schools enables us to support and participate in these programs.
  • In addition to program support, the Association provides direct financing to local youth participating in local livestock projects through our Youth Lending Program.
  • Lastly, our employees volunteer time throughout the community by participating in events such as the canned food drive, youth judging days, career fairs, etc.
